Gentle Somatic Embodiment Wellbeing Sessions
for Care Home Residents and Staff

I offer gentle, accessible somatic embodiment yoga and meditation sessions designed to meet the diverse needs of care home residents. Sessions are carefully adapted for a wide range of settings, including dementia care units, assisted living wards, and residential care environments. Sessions are also available for care home staff, supporting their wellbeing alongside the residents they care for.

Each wellbeing session is thoughtfully and lovingly tailored to the individual, responding to their abilities, needs, and how they are feeling in the moment. Sessions are calm, unhurried, and flexible, creating a safe, reassuring, and supportive environment where residents feel comfortable, respected, and at ease.

These sessions gently support residents to:

  • Reconnect with their bodies through soothing awareness and gentle self-massage, helping them feel calm, grounded, and safe

  • Relax muscles and release physical tension, supporting comfort and ease

  • Feel calm, safe, and able to trust the space where they are living

  • Move gently and naturally using simple neurological movements to encourage mobility, coordination, and body awareness

  • Breathe more calmly with easy, reassuring breathing techniques that help reduce anxiety and emotional distress

  • Happier and laugh more often

These gentle practices help residents to feel calmer, more settled, and less anxious, supporting emotional wellbeing, moments of connection, and a greater sense of contentment. Sessions are suitable for all stages of dementia and assisted living and can be adapted for seated or bed-based participation, meeting residents exactly where they are.

This approach nurtures both body and mind, helping residents feel more present and comfortable in their bodies, while gently reinforcing a sense of safety, familiarity, and belonging within their care home environment.

For Residents in Dementia Care Settings, Sessions Focus On:

  • Simple, repetitive movements to support familiarity and confidence

  • Music, rhythm, and guided breathing to encourage calm and connection

  • Sensory awareness and emotional reassurance

  • Reducing anxiety while promoting calmness and happiness

  • Gentle self-massage to support comfort and relaxation

For Assisted Living Residents, Sessions Support:

  • Mobility, balance, and gentle strength

  • Relaxation and stress reduction

  • Social connection and positive mood

  • Simple self-massage and breathing practices

  • Independence, confidence, and overall happiness
